Jira Software access to external customers

I wonder if and how it could be possible to give access to a specific Jira SW project to external customers without the need to use any user license ?

I imagine that customers would have a limited access the project content.

Could you please share with me if this is feasible and what would be the limitations ?

This is not possible in Jira software, but is possible in Jira service management.

Please note the the customer in JSM would have access to issues via a portal not the application.
