Hello,
I am new to Jira. I am looking to auto-assign a component to the Component lead, however, upon creating an issue, it is not being assigned. Rather, it still displays as unassigned.
What could I doing wrong?
Components
A-Test ( Component Lead: Raunak, Default Assignee: Component Lead)
Our 'Default'assigne for the project is 'Unassigned'. I will not be able to change this because it affects our entire project.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
That isn't how components and component lead work. You assign a user to be the component lead and when the user creates the issue they pick a component and JIRA assigns it to the component lead. If there isn't a component lead it is assigned to the project lead.
I think I have figured it out Joseph, looks like I did not assign the user with 'Service Desk Team' or higher role. They were only assigned with the 'Standard' role which does not allow for auto assign of users.

glad you figured it out

Thanks Joseph, I have gotten it to work for my user. However, it does not work with others. This leads me to believe I am missing a Issue Permissions for the other user.
Does a user need to be under 'Assignable User' group in order to be a assignee for an issue?

So when a new issue is created if they pick A-Test as the component you will be automatically assigned the issue if you have 'default assignee' at creation time. Review the link below:
