Jira OAuth authentication

We are working to develop  a connector using one of our client tool. While investigating we came two know there are 2 types of authentication JIRA rest API supports. i.e Basic and OAuth. Basic is  working fine for us.

I don't have much idea on OAuth.

Is JIRA Rest API available to create access token? and that can be used to invoke rest API's
