Those new to the Atlassian Community have posted less than three times. Give them a warm welcome!

We want to create the ability for users external to Jira to create Intake Feature/Idea intakes.  Most of the responses center around the Jira "Create Button."  However, due to the license restrictions, we need non-Jira users the ability to submit requests for Product Managers and other analysts to triage them from a centralized Jira Intake Project queue.

Hi @Joe R ,

there are two possible options that I would recommend:

  1. use Jira Incoming mail handler
  2. add Jira Service Management application to your instance

My personal recommendation would be #2 for the following reasons:

  • JSM is designed to work with free Customer accounts
  • While you can create issues in Jira using emails this is too limited and you loose site of who actually created the issue. Therefore you can not easily interact with the reporter. JSM solves this.
  • Cheap/free addition. Depending on your requirements on the number of users that need to manage the issues created it is very reasonable cost. You can have up to 3 for free.
