Jira Data Center and user directory

Anyone running Jira Data Center and is using it as the user directory for Bitbucket and/or Confluence? Are you able to specify the common URL that points to the proxy server instead of a specific node? I am running HAProxy and when trying to use the common URL when setting up a user directory in Bitbucket/Confluence I get a 403 error. Is there a setting in HAProxy to work around that? Specifying a specific node has been working up until 3 months ago when Jira process on that node died for some reason. And the same thing happened this week on the second node, so I am trying to find a solution that is not dependent on the nodes. We are looking at Crowd, but until it's implemented I am hoping to find a temporary solution using the current setup.
