Jira Data Center - Select List entry issue

Andy Towers
March 23, 2026

Afternoon Jira DC community

We're running Jira DC V11.3.2 and we have some select lists within our projects with 3000+ selectable options i.e. Supplier. We have recently started to see Jira CPU usage spikes whilst trying to add additional entries to these custom fields and we have had to stop/start the Jira service to get things moving again. We're trying to establish if there is an entry limit before we investigate increasing CPU power on the virtual machine.

Any advice appreciated

Thank you

HI @Andy Towers

If Supplier is a select field with so many options, or is it based on assets.

Check the logs on what is happening, could be mem issues or issues related to caching.

Think on:

  • Heap Size
  • Garbage Collection
  • DB pool connections
  • Web server Max threads

Hi @Andy Towers

For this I would see to start using another option , might be worth looking onto a CMDB solution.
