Jira Cloud: Please add option to disable automatic comment body collapsing

Andy Jäger _Valantic_
August 20, 2026

Since a recent update, individual comment bodies in Jira Cloud issues are now collapsed/truncated by default, requiring users to click "Show more" on each comment to read its full content.

This is a significant UX regression for anyone who regularly works with issues that have active comment threads. Having to expand every single comment one by one just to follow a discussion is extremely disruptive to workflows.

Expected behavior: Comments should display their full content on load, as they always have.

Request: Please provide a user-level (or at minimum site-admin-level) setting to disable this automatic collapsing, or revert this change entirely.

Environment: Jira Cloud, observed as of August 2026.

Hi @Andy Jäger _Valantic_

Please use the Feedback button within Jira under the Help button (near your avatar in the upper right corner) to provide that suggestion directly to Atlassian.

This forum is a public forum for user of the Atlassian tools, not Atlassian Support.

Suggestions in post like these will disappear and will not be noted, this is where the feedback option is placed within the apps.

Thanks for pointing that out. I already thought this, but this is what Rovo suggested to do. ;) It also wrote the text, I just wanted to get the stone rolling. I posted it where you suggested.

Thanks and have a great day!
