Jira Cloud - Permission - Assign Issues not showing everyone

Hello - 

I am having issues with a specific user having the ability to assign issues. This issue may come into two different parts. 

Preconditions:

  1. I have configured the projects default permission scheme to allow "Jira-Software-Users" to be assigned to issues which means that anyone within Jira should be able to be assigned to an issue. 
  2. I have configured the projects default permission scheme to allow a couple of different groups to have access and assign issues to different users. 
  3. The specific user has been configured as the Project Lead, and Project Lead is a role that was configured to allow case assignment. 

 

Problems/Issues:

  1.  When I impersonate the Project lead and access a ticket using the New Issue View and clicks the area where the ASSIGNEE is listed it only displays "unassigned & assign to me" this is not displaying the rest of the users. 
  2. When I impersonate the Project lead and access a ticket using the Classic View you're able to see the drop-down list of all users.

Hello Christopher,

Welcome to Atlassian community!

I understand that a particular user (Project lead) is not been able to assign an issue to anyone but himself in the new issue view, however, he can assign to other users in the old issue view. Is that correct?

Currently, we have a bug which blocks users to assign issues in the new issue view if they are not added in the Edit Issues permission too:

Assign User permission not being respected in new issue view

Can you please grant the Edit Issue permission to the Project lead and check if you are able to assign the issue?

If this is not the bug you are facing:

Can you confirm to us that in both tests performed (Old and New Issue View) you have tried to assign the same issue and not a different one?

Can you please provide us if you received any errors in the browser javascript console when reproducing the issue?

Additionally, check if you are able to reproduce this same problem using another browser, just to ensure you are not facing a cache problem.

This issue was resolved by adding the Assignee field in the Edit Issue screen view. There are no longer issues with assigning issues.
