Jira Automation: Missing triggers

Sameeksha Santhosh Naik June 18, 2025

Hi,
I'm working on creating a default project template for my team with automation, which focuses on automatically creating default Epics/Stories and Tasks when a new project is created.
When I try to add a trigger? I'm unable to find triggers like "when a new project is created" or  "manual Trigger", etc.

  • Does this have to do with the type of licensing, version, or any particular setting?
  • What is the alternative solution?

Hi @Sameeksha Santhosh Naik and welcome to Community!

The "Project created" trigger is only available in the Global automation menu (System > Automation > Global automation). If you don't see that trigger, you're most likely looking at the project-level automation menu instead of the global one.

Here's the Project created trigger in the Global automation menu:

Hope this helps!

Hello @Sameeksha Santhosh Naik

Welcome to the Community !

Automation trigger, specially Project create isn't related to plan of instance; something might be a issue/glitch.

Can you check in automation template and try it or import such to test?

EDIT: Project creation trigger is in global automation only, not from automation section of the project.
