Jenkins Integration - Can you update development panel with build status?

It looks like the Jira and Jenkins integration has come a long way since when I've last looked at it. The one major downside I can see is that the Jira development panel doesn't seem accessible via API, so there aren't plugins that can update the development panel with Jenkins build information and status. The same goes for information from SCM tools other than bitbucket. 

Has anybody figured out a way to do this? Ideally, I can (with some scripting or a plugin) update the development panel with build info and status from Jenkins, and with SCM info from perforce/svn.

Hi Matt,

There is a feature request for this at JSWSERVER-15768.  Please vote on that issue and add your use case to the comments so the devs will consider adding this functionality to JIRA natively.
