We use JSD cloud and use the auto assign rules by component (assign to component owner).
My question is how do people handle this for absence management? Can you assign a delegate? I'm at a loss for what process, setting or tools to use.

Currently, it's not possible to assign tickets to someone else automatically when the default assignee is out. We have some feature requests suggesting the implementation of the ability to set an agent as unavailable, set vacation of agents and delegation of approval rights:
