JQL query to search History field contents?

gordon_varney January 7, 2025

Please?

I'm looking to find some issues that were (apparently) moved from the Intake issue to either Story or Bug. We used to have lots of Intake issues and now down to two. How to figure out where they went?

Hi @gordon_varney

That is not possible with the built-in features of JQL as the CHANGED (and other related operators) cannot check the Issue Type field: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/jql-operators/#CHANGED

Please discuss this need with your Jira Site Admin as you may already have an Atlassian Marketplace addon which expands the features of searching / reporting to find such issues.

Kind regards,
Bill

Hi @gordon_varney ,

If you are open to using apps you can use Issue History Dashboard for Jira  an app released by our company.

You can filter to only search for history change items that are about changing the issue type by using the filter field "Field Updated", select the Issue Type value.

You will be able to see what issues were changed, from what projects, at what date and who performed the change, the Updated By field will contain the user that performed the change.

Also you will be able to see in the columns Value From and Value to the issue type the issue type value before the change and after the change.

You can export your data to csv.

In the example below only one issue was changed from Story to Task.
