Hi all,

I'm experiencing an error in JIRA from a dashboard.

I have created a filter gadget which shows a list of issues of type task that are in a status of To Do.  All of the users i've tested the dashboard with can select the link and it opens the issue in JIRA itself except for one user.

This user gets the following error message when trying to click:

"Requested URL too large.  Try shortening the JQL of your saved filter"

They can however copy the link to the issue, paste it in a new window and it works fine.  I've checked that they have access to the filter and they are also an admin of the project the issues are created under.  They have also cleared their cookies.

Any idea on how to resolve?

Thanks!

  • Increase URL Length Limit: If possible, increase the URL length limit on the server hosting JIRA.
  • Use POST Requests: If the dashboard allows, switch from GET to POST requests for the filter, as POST does not have URL length restrictions.

If these steps don’t resolve the issue, it might be worth checking if there are any browser extensions or settings that could be affecting this particular user’s experience. Additionally, consulting Atlassian’s support documentation or reaching out to their support team could provide more tailored solutions.
