JIRA is stuck on a greyed out screen while updating a worflow

We are implementing JIRA for our organization and are still in the configuration stages.  We recently made a change on the Columns and Status settings page, and now the system appears to be "stuck".  The screen is greyed out and there is a modal in the bottom left hand corner that says:

We're still updating your workflow
This update is taking longer than expected and we haven't saved your changes yet.  you can refresh the page to try again.

We've tried everything and can't get out of this state.  It started last week and is still happening today.  I can't imagine JIRA taking days to save changes.  Any suggestions on what to do here?

Hi @Jason Day ,

Welcome to the community !!

The workaround is "You can fix this by making another Workflow change and saving it, this will have a domino effect and fix the problem". this is mentioned in https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWCLOUD-22122

If still the issue exists and if your instance is not a cloud free version, then please contact Atlassian Support team here
