I hold four ACP certifications, so let me give you the prep approach that has survived every exam revision, plus honest guidance on your specific questions.
On syllabus changes: trust exactly one source. Atlassian has been revising its certification program, so before anything else, open the official exam page for the certification you are booking and download the current exam guide. It lists the topics with their weightings, and those percentages are your study map. Any blog, video, or question bank that predates the current guide is describing an exam that may no longer exist, which is how well-prepared people get surprised.
On the scenario style, this is evergreen: Atlassian exams test decisions, not menu memorisation. Questions read like "a team needs X, which approach achieves it with the least admin effort" and several answers will technically work. The skill is eliminating the ones that work badly: too much permission, too much admin overhead, the wrong project type. Read the qualifier words twice ("least effort", "without global permissions"), they are the actual question.
Where deeper knowledge tends to be needed than people expect (from experience across these exams, verify each against your current guide): the company-managed vs team-managed divide and what each can and cannot do, the permissions layers (global vs project vs board and filter sharing, and which one actually causes the behaviour in the scenario), JQL fundamentals, and boards and sprints mechanics (what moving, closing, and reopening actually does to the data).
On practice resources: the free courses on Atlassian Learning aligned to your exam, plus the sample questions on the official exam page if provided. And the single highest-value hour: a free Jira Cloud site of your own, rebuilding the scenarios you read about. These exams consistently reward people who have clicked the screens over people who have read about them. I would avoid third-party question dumps entirely: they breach the certification agreement and, worse for you, they are usually stale.
Exam-day mechanics: budget your minutes per question, flag anything uncertain and return, and never leave a question blank.
