JIRA Service Desk - error logging request

Daniella Moses July 17, 2019

We would like anyone to be able to log a request with JIRA service desk, even without a JIRA licenses. Everyone can currently see the portal and the request form. However people submit the requests but get various errors. Some get "no access: you do not have permission to view this portal" and "No Access: you do not have permission to view this request".

Some requests do come through to us on the SD but some don't. I have tried to fix the permissions so many way i just can't figure it out.

Hello Daniella,

By the errors you described, it seems the customers in your portal are being restricted by some permissions in your projects. This can be configured by performing the steps below:

- Navigate to your projects > Project Settings > Customer permissions

There, you can set which activities the customers can do in that specific customer portal. Basically, Who can access the portal and send requests and Who can customers share requests with:

Additionally, you can set if customers must log in to create new tickets or not and if they can self-sign up under JIRA Settings > Products > JIRA SD Configuration:

For more information about the steps above, check this documentation:

Choose customer permissions for your service desk and Jira site

Let me know if this information helps.
