JIRA Ranking in Structure Boards

I can change the rank of my issues within the structure board. When I used a filter on components and used the rank arrow to move an issue around, the way the issues get moved around is different. I would have anticipated the ranking not to change in the master view vs the filter view.. However I notice the ranking I had earlier changed and some issues got pushed down way below in comparison with the change I made

Can you help me in understanding how the rank change logic works?

Is there any sequencing logic we should be aware when we are updating rank with filters applied vs when there are no filters at all

Any explanation to the behaviour I have noted above

Before making any suggestions, it would be helpful to gather some additional details.

Am I right when assuming that by 'filter view' we are talking about the hierarchy you're getting when using a Quick Transformation(s)? (a.k.a Quick Filters)
