JIRA OnDemand JDK 1.6 - is it too low??

Yuanjie Li April 22, 2014

I noticed that the JDK of JIRA OnDemand is 1.6.

it is too old, and it's support has already been stopped.

is there any problem to use JDK1.6?? what if there occurs some mistake with JDK 1.6?

is there any way to move it to JDK1.7??

That's up to Atlassian. They'll upgrade when they feel it is ready, and it's their problem if it causes a problem - this is one of the reasons for using a managed service, the underlying supporting software isn't really anything you should be worrying about.

I'd be mildly curious to know why Atlassian are behind on the Java version though, mostly out of curiosity as they recommend 1.7.
