JIRA NextGen - RoadMap with Export?

Has anyone come across a method to create a Roadmap OUTSIDE OF JIRA, using an Export of the JIRA data?

I am in the JIRA Cloud, and my project is a NextGen.  Since the EPIC dates are not controlled by the underlying Stories (which makes no sense in my honest opinion), I'm looking for a way to bypass JIRA in the creation of the Road Map my managers want to see.  

I have tried Portfolio for JIRA, but unfortunately, because it does not work with NextGen projects, I am unable to get the Epics & Stories to relate with each other (even after improving the Portfolio Hierarchy by adding the NextGen Epic & NextGen Story Issue types.

Would love to use Jira's software to build the road map, but that seems to be a no go.  Any other recommendations / success stories?
