[JIRA Cloud] Use Announcement Banner for "quote of the day" ?

Hey everybody,

As you know, Announcement Banner is used for general system-wide announcement message to your JIRA users. Personally I find that it is very good to be abused for a "quote of the day" message to motivate your teammates.

Is this idea crazy? Is it possible to do it for JIRA Cloud?

Not really.

There's certainly nothing to generate it in JIRA, and the setting of the announcement banner is something the administrators do manually.  It is stored in the database, which you can't update while JIRA is running and you don't have any access to in Cloud anyway. 

So you'd need a remote call to do it, but that hasn't been implemented in REST, so your only option is a remote script that can log in as an admin, navigate to the banner screen and paste in your message.
