Ive added 500 points to a story and then reverted back, the burn down is now messed up, How can i correct this?
You could try creating a Clone of the Story and then deleting the original
Whether you change back the story point or create a new story with the required story point and delete the other one, you will have impact in your burndown. Best is to change the start time of the ongoing sprint after any time of the change of story point, incase you are using Scrum.
You can go to backlog and edit the start time of the ongoing sprint as shown in the screenshot. Everything will be alright after this.

I also think that this is the best option.
But if you are unable to change the start date of the sprint, you other option is to modify the time of the change you made directly on the data base. Be aware that this is not safe and you should shutdown jira before any change on database.
