Hello!
I have a project where I want to create a board based on existin filter which contaits all isues in that project. The JQL looks like this: project = $project name. And I do see all my issues in this filter. However, when I look to a backlog of this board - it hides issues which are associated with epics (user stories and issues which are dirrectly conntected to Epic)
Did anyone faced with the issue? It looks similar to this
Is the source project a Company Managed project or a Team Managed project?
Is it a Software project (vs. a Work Management/Business project or a Service Management project)?
Can you provide screen images that show the backlog demonstrating that an issue you expect to see is not visible, and also a screen image of the details of that issue?
Hi!
Thanks for response.
My project is team managed;
It's is Software project
Here is the screenshots:
Project Backlog on main board:
Project Backlog on my test board:
And here is the filter result:
If we look at epic we will see that there are child issues which are part of the project:
If I create story OR task which is not associated with the epic - it appears on board:
But after adding Epic link to the issue it disapears again

When you create a board manually from a saved filter, the functionality of that board is based on the architecture of Company Managed projects. In such projects, a child issue of an Epic keeps track of its parent using the Epic Link field, and keeps track of the parent issues of Sub-tasks using the Parent field. In a Team Managed project, a child issue of an Epics and Sub-tasks keep track of their parents using the Parent field.
Because of this difference, your manually created board sees the issues that are children of Epics (in the Team Managed project) as "sub-tasks" for display and board functionality purposes. Such child issues will show in the backlog list only if you expand their parent Epic in the Backlog list. And in the epics pane you will not get summary data for the child issues because the board sees them as equivalent to Sub-tasks.
If that explanation is unclear, let me know.

Thank you. The explanation is clear. The only unclear part is how to see the issues in backlog list?
what does it mean “to expand parent epic in the backlog list?”

I apologize. I made an incorrect statement on that point.
In a board for a Company Managed project, when an issue has sub-task then a ">" appears next to that issue's key in the Backlog display. If you click on the >, the issue will "expand" and show you the child sub-tasks.
For Team Managed Epics displayed in a manually created board I thought the same would be true, since the child issues are seen as "sub-tasks". But it appears there is another criteria being applied that determines if that > appears, and it is not appearing for the Epics when I test the scenario.
So, there does not appear to be a way to display the issues that are children of Epics in the Backlog when you manually create a board to display Team Managed project data.

Welcome to the community.
If you use the board that was created automatically with the Team Managed project then you will be able to filter the backlog by Epic and see the child issues associated with a particular Epic.
There is no solution when you choose to manually create a board to display issues from a Team Managed project.

Thanks for your answer. Last question, this problem doesn't appear in Company-Managed configuration? Regards!

Manually created boards are designed to work with Company Managed projects. When a manually created board is displaying data from a Company Managed project you can click on an Epic in the Epics pane and the list of issues will be filtered to show the child issues of that Epic.
That is the same behavior you see in an automatically created board for a Team Managed project.
