Is there any way of customizing layout of JIRA dashboard ?

I want to have layout dividing different gadgets into multiple horizontal sections. I want to segregate my gadgets better than just fixed template available which is just two vertical columns or 3 vertical columns

Natively Jira supports only the limited column layout customization. There is an open change request to provide more layout customizations. You can add your vote to it here:

For more customizable layouts you would need to investigate third party apps from the Atlassian Marketplace.
