Is there any identity API to directly authenticate a user using Atlassian account?

Just like when we open Atlassian community and are asked on the top right corner to 'continue as username' , I want to embed an identity API in my application which will detect if a user is logged into any particular Jira site and if the user wants to continue using those credentials to ease the authentication experience.

Is there any identity API that supports this? I know google supports one for a similar purpose - "chrome.identity" . I need a similar API for authentication with Atlassian account.

I understand you're developing an application and want to tie it in with Atlassian ID. There are a couple authorization points that you might want to check out:

• OAuth 2.0 (3LO) which will be most helpful if you want to interact with Jira Cloud from a separate application
• User Impersonation for Atlassian Connect apps , which comes with the Atlassian Connect toolkit if you're developing an app that you will list on the Atlassian Marketplace

Outside that, we also have a dedicated Developer Community that might be good to check out for app development related questions. Since the topics are more focused, it's easier for other developers to watch the questions coming in and provide guidance.
