Hi,
I've looked, but maybe not using the right wording to find, so thought I'd try asking this amazing community of folks for some help.
Scenario:
I have 6 Projects all using these fields (they will have different entries per team, per ticket).
I want to tell an add on, to look at Field A across all projects and add them up and give me the total.
Then I'd want it to look at Field B, add it up and multiply it by Field C.
If in excel I'd just put the formula in and regardless of what number goes in that cell, it recalculates. I want and add on that will do something similar, I tell it to map to these fields and do math based on them.
I do know automation can do some of this, I have done some simple math with it, but we need something a little more user friendly and displays nicely. Without having to export and jazz it up in excel.
Any thoughts or ideas?
Hi @Erica T_,
You can do this type of calculation by using our Great Gadgets app. It offers an Advanced Issue Filter Formula gadget that can calculate math formulas base on the fields of the issue from up-to-six filters. The result is displayed on your Jira dashboard (or in Confluence).
So you can use this for calculating the overall numbers for each project, or the overall numbers across all 6 projects.
Hope this helps.
Danut.
This does exactly what I was asking for, calculate fields I tell it to. And it allows filters so I can adjust by team etc. I have this in our test enviro now to really try and get the full understanding of it before intro'ing it to the team, and see if we can mimic what one of the Dev's has in excel. I think we can, or get really close.
Thank you, I'd have not come across this app without having posted the question. Much appreciated and keep up the good work on this app!
Erica

Hi @Erica T_
I think you'd like the app that my team and I are working on, JXL for Jira.
JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also comes with a number of advanced features, including support for (configurable) issue hierarchies, issue grouping by any issue field(s), sum-ups, or conditional formatting.
With these, you can build a view like e.g. this in just a couple of clicks:
# of Apps is a custom field; you can view as many issues and as many custom fields to your sheet as you want, and also configure different sum-up techniques (like min, max, average, progress etc. etc.).
For Field A + Field B * Field C etc., many of our customers use Jira Automation, or one of the many smart/calculated field apps that we integrate with (like e.g. Adaptavist's Scriptrunner or Decadis' Smart Fields). You can then just add the calculated field as a column to JXL and see it update as you change A, B, or C. (In the near future, we also plan to introduce formulas as a native feature to JXL.)
Any questions just let me know,
Best,
Hannes

Thank you for sharing this, I did come across this one in marketplace. It is a really neat app, and super helpful for those who want to manage tickets in an excel type format. It was clean looking. It wasn't specifically what I was looking for this time around, but it's one I do have bookmarked. Thank you so much for the kind reply and continued success on your app!

Structure by Tempo is pretty much the best plugin to add to Jira out of the box. Extending data in a tabular view, with completely configurable view columns, underpinned by out of the box special columns and a flexible functional language for formulas that is reminiscent of Excel.
Don’t be put off by the marketing blurb, they are not good at selling their own product. Get a free trial and have a go.
PS I’m not affiliated with the product company, but I’ve used it at 4 different companies.

Thanks for sharing this @Sean Blezard we are going to test this out further for sure because it may address another issue for me. I did like another suggested app. that did address exactly what I was looking for in this particular case and just wasn't able to come across in marketplace. : )

Hi @Trudy Claspill ! Thank you for sending this, I did come across it when looking for something else, I didn't see that it did calculations like I was hoping for. I will test it out a little further, always good to learn something new!
