Is there a way, using Confluence DC, to update Jira issue directly from a Confluence page?

Hi All, I believe in Confluence Cloud, you can just use 'Smart Links' to update Jira issues directly, without actually clicking through into Jira. But is there a way to do this using DC?

I ideally want to be able to update dates and add comments.

Thanks.

Hey @Karl Samson

You’re right, on Confluence Cloud, Smart Links let you update Jira issues inline (like changing status or adding comments). Unfortunately, Confluence Data Center doesn’t support inline editing natively. The built-in Jira Issues macro is view-only.

What you can do on DC:

  • Jira Issues Macro: Great for displaying issues, but no editing.
  • Marketplace apps:
    • Issue Forms for Confluence – lets you edit Jira fields directly from Confluence (with proper permissions).
    • Elements Publish – syncs Jira data into Confluence and updates automatically.
  • Custom automation: Use the Jira REST API to build a button or form in Confluence that updates Jira (requires scripting).

Hope this helps!

Thanks Christos, that is what my initial analysis told me, but thanks for confirming.
