Is there a way to show faces of Assignees on an issue?

Those new to the Atlassian Community have posted less than three times. Give them a warm welcome!
We have added a custom multiple users field to our issues in order to add several people to an issue. For now, we have managed to show the names of these on the layout of the issue, but I would like to show faces instead of names.
Is there a way to do this?
