Is there a way to promote a sub-task into an issue (User Story)?

This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Creating a Sub-Task

After we create a sub-task in an issue if we discover or determine that it really should be an Issue (User Story) is there a way to do that easily or do we need to delete the sub-task and create the Issue?

Under the actions menu, there's a "convert to issue" option.
