Is there a way to prevent releases from being Archived if there are open issues in them?

This question was asked by a manager who noticed the releases being archived with open issues.  I looked and could not find a way to prevent it.  We will be upgrading soon but currently are on Data Center version 8.22

Haven't seen something OOTB that provide that functionality. As far I've known, the archiving remain flexible and allows to unarchive to make additional modification as needed. May suggest taking a look a the atlassian marketplace to extend capabilities.

One thing you can do is to grant admin permission to a responsible few. Only those who have project admin permission would be able to manage the versions.
