Is there a way to move an issue to a rejected status? if yes, how?

We have an issue logged, but don't want to delete it, but want to know that we decided to reject it.  what do we do?

I'm not sure about your Jira, but we have quite a few different "resolutions", one of which is Won't fix. We use this for issues which are rejected. So you would move it to the Resolved status and choose a resolution other than Fixed or Done
