Is there a way to globally change the label "Priority" to "Impact"?

Dannel Albert August 16, 2022

The difference is subtle, but we think replacing all instances of "Priority" with "Impact" make a big difference in how we think about our tickets. We feel like the concept of Impact is more useful than the concept of Priority, but we can't seem to figure out how to change that label.

Can someone point us in the right direction?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

No, there's no way to change the language Jira uses for its system fields.

I would not try to do this either, there's a load of functionality around priority that works fine for priorities, but won't work very well for "impact".

I'd recommend creating an "Impact" custom field, and hiding priority if you don't want to use it at all.

Thanks.

What field type would work best to emulate how Priority works?

A simple single-select is all that's under the priority.

The icons and colours are additional system functions, as are the reporting, colours coming through on calendars and so on.

Got it. Thanks!
