Is there a way to diplay usage stats on users through a gadget on the dashboard?

Is there a way to diplay usage stats on users through a gadget on the dashboard?

I am looking to create a chart on the dashboard that shows the number of active users in Jira and the growth of user numbers over a period of time. Is this possible? Using the JQL's i have only been able to show project and Issue details.

Answer accepted

No, this is not possible with standard JQL and standard gadgets. In this case you must write your own gadget which get all user information.
