I have two company-managed projects and I would like to move issues between them. When I created the newest project, I selected "Share settings with an existing project" to ensure the projects share the same settings. As I have a required custom field set in the original project, when I try to move the issue across to the new project, this field is also required. Unfortunately the custom field doesn't appear to be set up in the same way in the new project as it is for the original project. When trying to bulk migrate issues with this field, the only option available in the drop-down for this field in the new project is "None" which is problematic as this is a required field. Is there a way to update this custom field in the new project so that it aligns with what I have set up in the original project? Is there a reason these fields didn't copy across to the new project when I created it?
Hi @Nikky Gleeson and welcome to the Community!
It seems that the context of your custom field is restricted. You should be able to share the fields context (which contains the available options and default value by project and/or issue type) with your new project as well.
To do so, navigate to Jira Settings > Issues > Custom fields. Locate the custom field there and check the contexts. Add the new project to the same context your other project is using and you should be fine.
Hope this helps!
Does this also work for copying the custom field from a company managed project to a team managed project?

I have a similar need, but none of my custom fields show up in the custom fields list...

I didn't have time to reply, but we couldn't do this. I had to re-create the custom field on the team managed project, thus data ended up being duplicated.
We then thought of how we could do this better.
