After attaching a video file to a Jira issue (.MOV, .MP4), once the video attachment is clicked, it automatically downloads to the computer instead of opening in the browser. Is there a non-Gif video file type that can be viewed in the Jira ticket without automatically downloading when clicked on?
Browser: Chrome
MacBook Pro laptop
By uploading heavy files such as MP4, will this slow down Jira or any other impact?
Hello @syoung,
Welcome to Atlassian Community!
Testing on my local site, the files were correctly previewed when using the new issue view and Chrome. The version on my laptop is 86.0.4240.111.
Then, I disabled the new issue view and I was able to replicate the issue only with a .MOV file, but this is expected. There is a feature request suggesting to support the preview of .MOV files:
Can you please let us know if you are using the new or old issue view?
What is the version of your browser?
Have you tested using Firefox, Safari?
Regards,
Angélica

Hi @Angélica Luz , I am using the old issue view because I like that view way better than the new one, and the Chrome version is 86.0.4240.111.
Thanks for the link to that Suggestion ticket. It would be great if they could update that to work with .MOV files. I had to convert the .MOV file to an .MP4 video file and now it is able to be preview in the browser without auto-downloading. Thanks!

Nothing new from 2022.
I'm finding that Safari `Version 15.4 (16613.1.17.1.13, 16613)` doesn't work to preview the .mov files even in the new view, and often has trouble uploading large .mov files. I am finding Chrome`Version 101.0.4951.54 (Official Build) (x86_64)` does work to preview the .mov videos in the new view which is nice - so thanks for posting this in a findable place! Old Jira version in Chrome does not work.
