Is there a setting to prohibit comments on already Closed issues?

Hi,

we would like to forbid to comment on issues in the status closed. Is there a way to do that without using a plugin?

yes.

edit the workflow...

choose the step where the issue is in closed state and click "View Properties"

add the following:

key=jira.permission.comment

value=denied

you can set way more keys than that
