Is there a setting that determines how text is encoded? (synced links are breaking)

I am using a software called Unito that syncs info. between various softwares. In my case, I am using it to sync info. between tickets in Jira and Asana. One of the features it has is two-way comment syncing - whenever someone adds a comment on a linked ticket in one of the two softwares, it appears in the other one as well. I am having an issue where if I paste a link with the character "&" in it in a comment, the link syncs to Jira but changes each instance of "&" to "&" causing the link not to work. I'm wondering if there is some kind of text encoding setting I can change or some other solution to make it stop doing this and interpret "&" as "&" upon syncing. This same issue does not happen if I paste the link in Jira and it syncs to Asana. The link appears to sync correctly as it looks the same in the synced Jira comment, but when you hover over it, you can see that the formatting is actually incorrect:
