Is there a query or macro to show which Groups are authorized to perform a Workflow Transition?

William Eckrich May 19, 2020

Sorry if this has already been addressed, I looked and didn't see it.

I'm relatively new to being a JIRA Admin.  Currently, I have a 22 step process to answer my Boss' question of, "Who can transition this particular JIRA?"

Is there a search or a query that I can run to find that answer more easily?  We assign Project Roles to Groups.

Here are the steps I currently take:

  1. Note the Project and Type (e.g., ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES, REPORT REQUEST)
  2. Go to Settings (cog wheel)
  3. Go to Projects
  4. Click on the Project (e.g., ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES)
  5. Click on the Type under Workflows (e.g., REPORT REQUEST)
  6. Click on Edit
  7. Click on the Transition you want to know about (e.g., APPROVE WORK under DESIGN AGENCY MANAGER REVIEW)
  8. Click on Conditions
  9. Note the Role that is authorized for that Transition (e.g., PROJECT DESIGN AGENCY MANAGER)
  10. Click Discard
  11. Click Discard
  12. Click Projects
  13. Click on the Project (e.g., ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES)
  14. Click on View Project Roles under Roles
  15. Click on Roles drop-down to see all Groups that have the specified Role assigned (e.g., PROJECT DESIGN AGENCY MANAGER)
  16. Note the Group that is identified (e.g., IT-Manager)
  17. Click Settings (cog wheel)
  18. Click on User Management
  19. Click on Groups on the left
  20. Enter the Group that was identified in the Name contains text input box (e.g., IT-Manager)
  21. Click Filter
  22. Click the number to see the Users assigned to that Group (to the right of the Group identified)
