Is it possible to set the name of the reporter as a default value of a custom field?

I want to introduce the custom field "Tester"
This field should have as a default value the name of the reporter.
Is this possible?

This is not possible out of the box, but you could do it with a plugin like scriptrunner using a user picker field.

Thank you for your quick reply. However, your answer is not what I hoped to hear ;-).
Is it then possible to set the default value for this field as "unassigned"? Just like in the system field Assignee?

In user picker is not possible because the field will look to a user in your directory so unless you have a user called "unassigned" you will not be able.
