Is it possible to restrict completed issues from the linked issue section of an issue

There are many occasions where a large number of issues are linked to one "main" issue. Is there a way to prevent Completed issues from displaying in the Linked Issue section of an Issue?

You can remove the link permission on the Closed/Completed workflow status. Check out http://www.j-tricks.com/tutorials/permissions-based-on-workflow-status for restricting permissions based on workflow status.

An alternative option would be to modify the order of linked issues so that unresolved appear at the top of the linked issues list.
