Is it possible to provide a free readonly access to the users ?

Frédéric Batteux January 6, 2025 edited

Hello !

My colleague has already Billing Permissions to handle administrative tasks.
He would like also to have a readonly access to users.

I don't want to give him full admin role because he won't administrate the tool nor use it. Is there a way to provide him what he asks at no additional cost ?

Hello @Frédéric Batteux

That is not possible without considering third party apps.

Jira does not natively support the concept of a free, read-only user.

You could allow Anonymous/Public access to your projects for free, but that would open them to the entire internet.

There are third party apps that you can use to share Jira information with non-Jira users, without increasing your Jira user license count. But you may have to increase your overall cost by paying for the third party app.

OK that's what I thought... Thanks @Trudy Claspill !
