Is it possible to import users into Insight without using the ID?

Is it possible to import users into Insight without using the ID?

I'm currently trying to import details into a schema which is linked to certain users, but can't seem to find an alternative besides the Atlassian ID - is there an alternative that is more readable, e.g. email that can be used in place of this that can be imported?
