Is it possible to create issues labelled epic? If not can I get Beta turned off?

I am creating a new board in Jira project to run alongside some other existing projects. In our previous projects we use a system of epics, stories and tasks. Our projects are big so this system works well for us. However, when I created a new project I am only able to label issues as 'story' and am not able to create epics. The only explanation I can see is that this board is using beta. Is it possible to add epics using this version and if not can you please let me know how to turn it off.

Hi @Sinead Lambe,

Have you checked the Issue Type Scheme?

I haven't tried the Beta you are talking about.
