Is it possible to assign multiple people to a story?

We are pair programming and would like to assign both pairs to an issue.  Is it possible to have multiple assignees for a story?

No.  The JIra assignee is a single user, the person who is definitively the current person responsible for an issue. That's it.

If you need multiple users on an issue, then add (multi) user-picker custom fields, but bear in mind that they won't have the same functionality as the assignee field.
