Is it possible to add a custom field to a pie chart gadget?

I have been searching the documentation but I can't see an answer. I'm suspecting it's currently not possible but would like a definitive answer, and whether there is a similar request on Atlassian's product backlog?

This is not a black or white question, not answer. If the custom field type is supported, then yes. Otherwise obviously not.

In general, text type custom fields are not supported and will never be. Select list or labels custom fields on the other hand usually will be available as dimensions in a pie chart gadget. For some specific custom fields (e.g. specific to marketplace apps or new features) may not be supported.

If you are not sure, my suggestion would be to try with a small data set, so you don't waste too much time setting up the field and adding data to find out later that it's not usable.
