In trying to set up my stories and epics, I have added an Issue type of Initiative and would like to use the Parent Link to link epics to initiatives. I have tried adding the Parent link field to the screens but cannot get it to appear.
Is the Parent link field not available in the Free tier of Jira Software Cloud?
If it IS available, what do I need to do to get it to appear on the screens ?
Hi Sean,
i’m a bit puzzled because you mention adding an initiative which I did not think was supported in free. It is not there in standard and I believe it is only in premium.
in free and standard you should have epic > story/task > subtask. Further, the relationship between epic and story/task leverage is the epic link.
I manually added a n issue type of Initiative. It was not present by default in my project. I have since found another screen when going over some of my issues that explicitly stated that the Parent Link is not supported in free which effectively answered my question :).
Even though we only have a small team (1 dev, 2 stakeholders + me as a project leader) I am pushing for the purchase of Premium here to get some of the additional features so I can link epics and be able to plan and roadmap this project effectively. Unfortunately the 14 days or premium trial will not give me enough time to implement those features and demonstrate effectiveness so I am trying to bend the free version as much as I can to mimic the functionality.
