Individual Capacity/Resource Planning

Lauren Folley
February 29, 2024

I'm looking to use JIRA to do Capacity planning for team members working across different pieces of work without an additional app or integration.

Goal: We have Developer 1, Developer 2, Developer 3 -- Developer 1 is a resource planned for projects A & B, Developer 2 is planned for projects A & C, Developer 3 is planned for projects B & C.

I want to see where those resources line up on a timeline with the projects to know if they would be available to work on a project without having them assigned to any work.Screenshot 2024-02-29 at 10.14.01 AM.png

Hi, @Lauren Folley. As far as I know, there is no way to do this natively in Jira. Except *maybe* with  Advanced Planning (aka Advanced Roadmaps).

But I don't think it's going to do what you describe, as you describe it.

So, the other alternative to look at what some of the solutions in the Atlassian Marketplace can do for you.

The fact that there are so many options to choose from (my screenscrape just shows the first six) suggests to me that you are not going to find exactly what you're looking for without one of these add-ons.

Good luck to you whatever you decide. Let us know what direction you chose to go in.
