Inactive and Disabled User Handling in Jira Data Center

Dears I have an issue in my Jira Data Center, and I’d like to understand how the system logic works.

When an AD user has never logged in before, and in their AD account the option “User must change password at next logon” is enabled, the user appears as inactive in Jira. However, once they log in for the first time (not to Jira, but for example to their computer or Outlook), the inactive status in Jira is cleared.

But when the user goes on vacation and their account is disabled in AD, the user still remains active in Jira — they don’t become inactive.

I’d like to understand how this system works.

On which attributes is this synchronization based?
