Hi Jayashree,
You can use Automation and math expressions to calculate the percentage and then update the issue with Edit issue action to set the value field.

What problem are you trying to solve by doing this?  That is, why do this?

You mention Great Gadgets, which is an addon for Jira dashboard visualizations.  What will you do with the percentage: display on dashboard, send a message, report somewhere, or something else?

What do you mean by "percentage for defects"?  For example, number of defect issues related to another issue, for a parent issue, for a project, etc.

Knowing these things will help the community to offer better suggestions for the problem you are trying to solve.  Thanks!
