I saw on the community when the product was first launched that there was not the option to create different types of issues and their relationship e.g. parent/child but the answer provided said it was coming and on the roadmap. Have there been any advancements on this yet? And if not, is there an idea when to expect this capability?
Hi @ABIL
welcome to the community! I'm not aware of any developments here, but perhaps someone who's closer to the product team can lean in.
Just as food for thought: Ideas in JPD are, in the end, also just Jira issues, which means that they can have e.g. issue links to any other issues. Jira doesn't do a great job in visualising issue links and/or issue-link based hierarchies, but there are many options available in the Atlassian Marketplace that can do so ('ll provide an example below). Perhaps that would be a direction for you to model what you're looking for.
Hope this helps,
Best,
Hannes
To expand on my point above: As an example, my team and I work on an app in which JPD ideas can be viewed in any kind of issue hierarchy: JXL for Jira.
This shows JPD issues along with their related (i.e., linked) engineering issues - but you could also easily model a "main idea - sub-ideas" structure.
For context, JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields - including JPD-specific fields - much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also comes with a number of advanced features, including support for (configurable) issue hierarchies, issue grouping by any issue field(s), sum-ups, or conditional formatting.
Any questions just let me know,
Best,
Hannes
