Importing Jira 8.13 into Jira Cloud: Service Desk Issues are missing

sedwards November 10, 2020

After importing our projects and issues into Jira cloud from Jira 8.13 client software backup: all of our Projects and Issues imported successfully except for the Service Desk Issues.

Any advice on why this could happen and how to fix it?

@sedwards ,

Did the import encounter any errors or it was just "succesfull" and then you noticed the issues werent there?

Was the project created empty or just no project at all?

No errors encountered. It was just successful and then we noticed the Service Desk issues weren't there.

"DESK" Service Desk project was created from the import, but no issues exists within that project.

Hmm, I'd be happy to see if I can reproduce this. Could you elaborate on your steps a bit for your backup/restore?

It is a full site backup/xml backup that you then restore on Cloud?

On the Jira client 8.13 I go to System > Backup System located @ secure/admin/XmlBackup!default.jspa

this creates a backup file of all data into the /export/ folder

I then go to Jira Cloud and import that data file, which then is what creates or overwrites all Projects and Issues in the cloud
